Appointments

AppointmentAppointments can only be made following referral from your own Veterinary Surgeon. On enrolment to the clinic you will be asked initially to complete a questionnaire and return this to us before the appointment.

The questionnaire will provide us with preliminary information about your pet’s feeding and exercise regime. On the day of the appointment your pet will receive a health examination by a designated Veterinary Surgeon; we will also take your pet’s blood pressure and a blood sample, and you will be asked to bring a sample of your pet’s urine with your personalised weight records.

Whilst at the hospital we will perform a scan of your pet, from a machine known as a ‘DEXA’ scanner. This will measure fat in the body and inform us of precisely how obese your pet is (see information on DEXA scanner). From gathering all these results we will be able to prepare a safe individual weight loss programme for your animal. After the scan you will then have a consultation with your obesity nurse who will finalise your pet’s weight loss programme and will also be available to support you and your pet throughout the weight loss. You will then take home a weight pack with your animal's
